CALENDAR GIRLS
By Tim Firth
Directed by Michael Sally
February 7 - March 2
When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Women’s Institute members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their newfound fame.
Based on the true story of eleven older women who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls opened at the Chichester Festival Theatre and has since become the fastest-selling play in British theatre history.
“Calendar Girls, with a script by Tim Firth, who also co-wrote the movie, achieves exactly what it sets out to do. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, and it leaves you feeling better about life than you did when you entered the theatre.”
“A show of poignant moments – about friendship, determination and hope; about loss in many forms; about the importance of acceptance; about knowing when to let go. It also offers plenty of humour, as they decide to pose nude for a calendar.”

Michael Haven
Jessie
Michael has been a member of Masquers for over 30 years. She has acted, directed, run lights and worked crew for a wide variety of Masquers productions; some favorites include directing Comedy of Errors, dying tragically in Veronica’s Room, and running lights for The Full Monty. However, in 2016 she abandoned us to go live and work in Seattle, WA. Happily, the dearth of community theatre in the Seattle area encouraged her to fly down to audition for this show. Currently she is camping with her Aunt Judi in Berkeley, works remotely for the US Army Corps of Engineers, and plays with her fellow thespians in the evenings. Shout out to an awesome cast, crew and director. Michael sums up: “It’s good to be home.”
